Have you ever been shocked to read something barbaric that people in the distant past took as normal? For me shocking things included Chinese footbinding. They had to break the girls’ feet and crush them so it was more like a hoof. The underside of the foot wad bent so that the toes touched the area under the ankle. The skin would grow so it really was like a hoof. The ideal foot was no bigger than 4 inches and perfection was when a man could fit both feet in his mouth. Lower class women had to work. Only elite women could afford to be crippled and need carrying everywhere they went. Vibe read the bindings would drip pus and blood and if course smelled ghastly. When I read the article above and see the operational electric chair I think we as a human race might change but the more things change the mire they stay the same. Electric chair vs firing squad. What would you pick? What if we threw in footbinding for adults as a third option?
