Our society judges people. We have a culture quick to point out failings. We tell women to have their unwanted babies. Then the shouting voices clamoring about the sanctity of life fall silent. Especially if someone asks how have you assisted a woman with a child she knew she couldn’t handle.
NOTE: I AM NOT SAYING ABORTION WAS INVOLVED IN THIS SITUATION. I AM MAKING A COGNITIVE LEAP CONNECTING THE IDEA OF A WOMAN ALONE WITH HER KIDS TO THE UNAVAILABILITY OF HELP.
Has anyone earned the right to cast that first stone by supporting a family in trouble, in even the smallest of ways? Not to say a token gesture qualifies someone as a judge. I am conducting a thought exercise as the media tells us the Supreme Court is rumored to remove abortion from the list of rights to the list of… privileges? Or the list of decisions left to individual states.
